Customer Feature: Making Family Memories on the Appalachian Trail
Would you brave the wilderness on a national trail with two teenagers? That’s exactly what Megan Hempstead has done the past two summers. She and her two sons, Will (15) and Owen (13), have been exploring the Appalachian Trail, along with much laughter and bonding time.
Linn County Youth Experience True Wilderness Along The Continental Divide
Did you know Iowa has no designated wilderness areas? Our state doesn’t have a single federal park or forest, so there are zero opportunities to experience pristine nature. It’s why SOKO gladly sponsored eight Linn County high schoolers and two chaperones on a two-week trek to the South San Juan Wilderness in Colorado this summer.

LLAMA YOGA AND MIMOSAS With Prairie Patch Farm!!!!
So much fun! 25 people came out for our first llama yoga held at the green space across the street from the store. Prairie Patch Farm brought in llamas to make a unique experience enjoyed by all.
SOKO Clinic Series: Pack Fitting by Osprey
We kicked off our Clinic Series this spring and had a ton of fun spreading some knowledge. , was really encouraged with a great turnout for each and excited about how many eager adventurers we have out there!
Paddle Day with SOKO Outfitters!!
SATURDAY, JUNE 18, 2022 AT 11 AM – 3 PM at Prairie Park Fishery Our annual paddle day at Prairie Park Fishery was another great success. Over 40 people came out to try our stand up paddle boards and kayaks, for many it was the first time on a SUP!
Trails to Cocktails
Love how our group of regular trail runners keeps growing! This summer we’ve visited the Sac and Fox Trail, Pleasant Creek, Beverly Park, Manatee Park and Mt Trashmore. We’re excited to continue into the fall at Seminole Valley and wrap up our trail running season in October with a collab with Iowa Running Co. to promote Socktober!
